Sunlight: Plant marigolds in a spot that receives full sun for at least six to eight hours per day. Insufficient sunlight will lead to leggy growth and fewer blooms.
Soil: They are not particular about soil but perform best in moderately fertile, well-draining soil with a pH between 6.0 and 7.0. Avoid overly rich soil, which can reduce flowering.
Watering: Water consistently during the first few weeks after planting. Once established, they are drought-tolerant but will perform best with weekly watering during dry periods. Water at the base of the plant to keep foliage dry and prevent rot.
Fertilizing: Marigolds do not require heavy feeding. If your soil is poor, you can apply a balanced liquid fertilizer monthly or use a slow-release granular fertilizer at planting.
Deadheading: Regularly removing spent blooms encourages the plant to produce more flowers.
