Care requirements
  • Light: Prefers bright, indirect light but can tolerate partial sun to partial shade. Indoor palms may not get enough light to thrive, so place them near an east- or west-facing window.
  • Water: Keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy. The top 1–2 inches of soil should feel dry before you water again.
  • Humidity: These palms thrive in high humidity and warm temperatures (ideally between 65–85°F). For indoor plants, mist the leaves regularly or use a humidifier.
  • Soil: Use a nutrient-rich, well-draining potting mix. A mixture of indoor potting soil with sand or perlite works well.
  • Fertilizer: Feed monthly with a liquid fertilizer formulated for palms during the growing season (spring and summer). Water before fertilizing to prevent root burn.
  • Pruning: Requires minimal pruning. Only remove dead or yellowing foliage.
  • Toxicity: Toxic to humans and pets. All parts of the plant contain calcium oxalate crystals that can cause a burning sensation if ingested or chewed.
