While needs vary by species, most ferns require similar conditions to thrive.
Light: Indirect or dappled light is best for most ferns. Too much direct sun can burn the leaves, while too little can lead to stunted growth.
Water: Keep the soil consistently moist, but not soggy. Ferns are sensitive to drying out, which can cause fronds to turn brown and crispy.
Humidity: The majority of ferns need high humidity to stay healthy. You can increase humidity by misting the foliage, using a humidifier, or placing the plant in a naturally humid room like a bathroom
Soil: Use a well-draining potting mix rich in organic matter. A mix containing peat moss, bark, and perlite works well to retain moisture without becoming waterlogged.
Fertilizer: During the growing season (spring and summer), feed with a diluted liquid houseplant fertilizer at half-strength about once a month. Fertilizing is not necessary in winter.
